Wheat Leads Tunisia Tender With Bids Starting at $255.77 a Ton

Tunisia has received several bids in an international tender to purchase about 125,000 tons of soft wheat, as the country moves to secure supplies amid competitive pricing.

According to preliminary assessments by European traders, the lowest bid for soft wheat was estimated at $255.77 a ton, including cost and freight, believed to cover a shipment of 25,000 tons.

Bids remain under evaluation and no purchase has been finalized so far, as authorities are not obliged to accept the lowest price if accompanying terms are deemed unattractive, a common practice in wheat tenders.

Bid Structure and Market Context

Other offers for soft wheat clustered slightly above the lowest level, ranging from $256.16 to $257.77 a ton, while an alternative proposal covered the full volume at a higher price.

The tender also drew indicative bids for durum wheat and animal feed barley, highlighting Tunisia’s broader import requirements and efforts to balance supply security with cost efficiency.
